Joseph Giles - Dark Bronze Waxed with Leather

DESCRIPTION: This is brushed brass, with a hand applied dark antique effect treatment which is then finished with a wax coating. The processes involved in creating this finish take considerable time and effort. A chemical is applied, worked into the brass and then extensively polished. The process is repeated several times to develop layers of dark bronze tint until the depth of dark bronze is achieved. It is finished with a light coating of beeswax.

BRIDLE LEATHER: Joseph Giles uses only the finest quality bridle leather for their products, which is applied by highly skilled and experienced crafters in the United Kingdom. Bridle leather is both practical and beautiful. It differs from regular leather as both the flesh and grain sides of the cowhide are treated with greases and finished with wax, making the leather incredibly hardwearing, pliable, and smooth to the touch. Each leather item you receive from Joseph Giles has been stitched with meticulous attention to detail, with a quality that can be both seen and felt.

OVER TIME: This finish is as dark as it will ever be, however, will subtly change over time during the cycles of wear and patination. In areas where the piece is frequently used, the finish will appear more like mid antique brass waxed until the natural patination gradually makes the piece darker and so on and so forth. The leather will age naturally over time developing its own individual character. Each piece will have varying levels of surface shine depending on the environment and usage.

APPLICATION: We recommend internal usage only for leather finishes, avoiding high humidity areas such as swimming pools and wet rooms.

CARE & MAINTENANCE: Wipe clean with soft lint-free cloth. This finish is not compatible with chemical-based cleaners, soaps or abrasive materials. We recommend after cleaning; a coating of good quality beeswax is applied to the metal component.
