Discover Luxury in Laundry

The laundry, once relegated to a lean-to ‘out the back’, is finally receiving the status it deserves.

Today, when many households feel time-poor, we seek more efficiency in completing everyday household tasks such as washing and ironing and we want it to be a pleasurable experience.  A beautiful and functional laundry room is now a given in the well-designed modern home.

LORN HOUSE - LAUNDRY

BRONTE HOUSE - LAUNDRY

The choice of sink and tapware for your laundry is critical to its function. A large sink is super helpful for adding flexibility of function – soaking dirty clothes, washing shoes, flower arranging and handwashing.

PROVINCIAL KITCHENS - LAUNDRY MUDROOM

This room is the veritable workhorse of the home; our laundry may be expected to accommodate washing, drying, folding, hanging, ironing, pets, sports and outdoor gear, flower arranging and even overflow from the kitchen such as a freezer

Of course, this room is harder to keep tidy and organised as everyone in the household claims ownership of the space. Therefore, ample storage is essential, either as wall cupboards or under-bench cabinetry. Open shelving looks clean and modern - display preserves or stash loose items in attractive baskets.

MILLBROOK HOUSE -  LAUNDRY

If your room opens off the kitchen, a combined scullery and laundry may work brilliantly for you with ample storage and a large sink to accommodate messy platters and cooking equipment, flower arranging and laundry requirements.

BEECHWOOD HOUSE - LAUNDRY

There is a merit in planning a combined wet room and laundry if your laundry opens on to the garden, especially if you are in the country. Then you will consider easy-clean flooring, a landing pad for muddy boots and sports shoes, hanging for coats and school bags. A farmhouse sink with a Perrin & Rowe spray rinse tap will be indispensable for washing mud off everything and filling vases!

GLEBE HOUSE - LAUNDRY

In a small laundry space, the balance is between bench space and closed storage.

A hanging rail over the bench makes use of the ‘empty’ space and allows for hanging of shirts for ironing. A tall cupboard for storing the ironing board is a luxury – or a fold-out board is a consideration. If you fold clothes in the laundry try to allow for sufficient bench space.

CROYDON HOME - BATHROOM & LAUNDRY

After all the practical considerations, you can have fun with colour, fabulous cabinet handles, attractive accessories and of course a stunning tap which matches the finish of the handles. Now everyone in the family will want to help with the laundry!
