Britt Salt - Armadale Window

Creative Minds Art Series

The English Tapware’s latest instalment in the Armadale showroom is part of our Creative Minds series – featuring local artists.

Britt Salt, a preeminent Melbourne artist, has been commissioned to investigate the space and explore the surfaces and shapes that embody The Water Monopoly new bathroom collection.

Spatial engagement underpins Britt Salt’s practice; an ongoing experiment where line, form and space intertwine. Her work has created a perfect setting for the graceful, fluid designs of our latest bathroom range from UK brand The Water Monopoly.

Using a variety of industrial materials such as vinyl and perforated aluminium, Britt creates works that challenge visual and physical perceptions of stability. These are drawn, folded and woven into shapes and patterns, creating spaces that gently shift with the viewers movement and interaction. When viewed from different angles, manifold patterns and forms emerge; objects can be viewed through other objects, interiors conflate into exteriors, and forms appear then disperse.

Britt’s work has attracted awards such as the prestigious Art & Australia/ Credit Suisse Private Banking Emerging Artist Award (2013) and the Freedman Foundation Travelling Scholarship for Emerging Artists (2010).

Britt has completed significant large-scale commissioned artworks for clients such as Fender Katsalidis Architects,BüroNorth, UAP and Moreland City Council. The dynamic 8-storey Facade Britt designed for FKA at 2 Riverside Quay, Melbourne (2017) is said to be the largest public artwork in the Southern Hemisphere.
