A Heritage Renovation with Minimalist Restraint

A heritage renovation of a traditional Edwardian weatherboard villa situated in Auckland's stylish Ponsonby neighbourhood, Franklin Rd House is a masterful creation by New Zealand designer Katie Lockhart in collaboration with architect Jack McKinney.

The home is a delicate balance of warm vintage and clean lined minimalism, influenced by the orderly, uncluttered nature of Japanese style and complemented by the cool, relaxed approach of Scandinavian design.

KITCHEN

A calming space oozing ‘Tropical Modernism’, Katie Lockhart champions celebrated architect Geoffery Bawa in this Ponsonby kitchen. A spacious, perfectly formed room overlooking a private pool, this is a place you never want to leave. The warmth of plastered walls, terracotta floor tiling, vintage Japanese textures and timber joinery take you to another world. The Ionian bridge tap from Perrin & Rowe sits with restraint off to one side, adding quiet style and function to the abode.
